List of most expensive music videos

List of most expensive music videos

This page lists the most expensive music videos ever made, with costs of $500,000 or more. Michael Jackson and Ayumi Hamasaki both have five videos each on this list. The latter also holds the record for being the only Asian artist to be featured on this list. Madonna and Janet Jackson make three appearances. Britney Spears, Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Mylène Farmer, Guns N' Roses, Celine Dion and MC Hammer appear on the list twice. Joseph Kahn has directed four videos on this list while Hype Williams and Wataru Takeishi have directed three videos on the list.

A recent misconception that has grown popular on various websites (and subsequently, has leaked into a few reputable media outlets), is that the video "From Yesterday" by rock band 30 Seconds to Mars, currently holds the record for "most expensive video ever made." The estimated cost has been reported around $13 million USD; however, there are no mainstream media reports that can corroborate this number.[1][2][3][4] The rumor was dispelled by the band during a MTV News interview in February 2010.[5]

It's worth noting that Director Nigel Dick, who has two videos in this list, describes the estimated cost of Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" as wildly inflated recalling that the budget was somewhere in the region of $700,000. He says the estimate of Britney's "Oops" video is closer to the mark.
