Chicagoland Television, better known as CLTV, is a 24-hour cable news station based in Oak Brook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. CLTV was launched on New Year's Day 1993. CLTV is owned by the Tribune Company and is seen on Comcast Cable. According to the CLTV website they reach 1.8 million households, making them one of the largest local cable networks in the USA.

Programming

CLTV focuses primarily on 24-hour news coverage. A one hour news broadcast is aired live, then rebroadcast again the next hour or sometimes two hours before a new live broadcast is put together and aired, repeating the cycle throughout the day. This is in a manner similar to CNN Headline News. CLTV broadcasts are similar in style and quality to other news broadcasts in Chicago with live shots, traffic, weather, sports, breaking news, and in depth pieces. Because they are exclusively a news station CLTV will often air local news events live in their entirety, such as press conferences and high profile speeches. CLTV also covers breaking news in the city and suburbs.

- Weekday live news broadcasts begin at 5:00am, on Saturdays and Sunday at 7:00am.

- CLTV re-broadcasts the WGN News at Noon at 1:00pm on weekdays and the WGN 9pm news at 11:00pm weekdays.

- Metromix airs on CLTV at 7:00pm, 8:00pm, 9:00pm, and midnight on Thursday and Friday and is a 30-minute program focusing on the Chicago area entertainment, restaurant, and social scene. Metromix is a television compliment to the Metromix section of the Chicago Tribune newspaper section of the same name.

- Other programs seen on CLTV are Metromix, Garrard McClendon Live, Homes Plus, Combatwire, Midwest Outdoors, and Fit Today.

- In 2002, CLTV began running paid programming in the overnight hours, usually from 1:00am until 3:30am.

-Sunday nights at 9:00pm Lou Canellis hosts the Sports Page Sunday Night Roundtable.

- CLTV periodically carries Cubs, Bulls, White Sox, and Blackhawks games. DePaul University airs a small number of men's and women's basketball games on CLTV each season.

- CLTV debuted its newest program, Garrard McClendon Live, on July 14, 2008. The talk/call-in show is hosted by Garrard McClendon who is a professor, writer and diversity trainer. Garrard McClendon Live airs Monday through Friday at 6:30pm with a replay at 9:30pm.

The Metromix TV staff produces the Metromix program which airs in prime Thursday and Friday on CLTV. The Thursday episode is known as "Let's Eat, Chicago" and focuses on the Chicago area's dining scene. Both episodes of the show rerun numerous times over the weekend.

The Homes Plus program airs Saturday and Sunday morning and focuses on buying new homes in the Chicago area.

Combatwire covers the mixed martial arts(MMA) scene in Chicago. It is part of the Tribune cross-media brand Combatwire.com. Other Tribune websites contributing are OrlandoSentinel.com and SunSentinal.com. The show airs late nights on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
