Susan Maughan

Susan Maughan

Susan Maughan (born Marion Susan Maughan, 1 July 1942, Consett, County Durham, England [ [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0560856/bio IMDb database] ] ) is a English singer who released a series of reasonably successful singles in the 1960s.

Career

Her most famous, and successful, song is "Bobby's Girl", which reached number three in the UK Singles Chart at Christmas time in 1962. It also reached number six in Norwegian chart in that year. The recording was a cover of Marcie Blane's U.S. original. She appeared at the 1963 Royal Variety Performance, and in the "What a Crazy World" film. Maughan also sang the title song for the second Charles Vine low budget superspy film, "Where the Bullets Fly" (1966). In 1971 she appeared in series five of the "Morecambe & Wise" BBC television series.

Perennially popular, Maughan now performs frequent summer seasons at Blackpool. Still recording to this day, her 2007 album, "Hey Look Me Over", has received some decent reviews. [ [http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=&sql=10:azfrxz85ldse All Music Guide] ]
