Pub Church

A Pub Church is a Christian Church which meets in a public house or similar establishment. Their purpose is to exist as authentic Christian communities but without the external trappings of more traditional churches in order to be as accessible as possible to non-churched people.

In the United States, Jack Sims and Richard Rossi started churches in bars under the name "Matthew's Party". Matthew's Party received widespread media attention in the 1980s from various sources including CNN, "USA Today", the "LA Times", and the "Seattle Post Intelligencer". Currently, a community of believers in Fishers, Indiana are meeting at The Pub at Pinheads under the ministry name of Leavener [http://www.leavener.com] .
