WCDX is a Mainstream Urban formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Mechanicsville, Virginia, serving the Richmond/Petersburg area. WCDX is owned and operated by Radio One.

History

WCDX began on 92.7 FM in August 1984 as WPUF. In 1985, WPUF became rocker WZZR as "Lazer 93".

In February 1987, WCDX would be born with its urban format, though as "Power 93". It wouldn't be until Mid-1996, that WCDX would move form 92.7 to 92.1, switching their branding to "Power 92".

WCDX remained the only Urban station in Richmond until 2001, when WBTJ flipped from oldies to urban.

Branding

At current, WCDX is using both the "Power 92-1 Jamz" and "iPower 92-1" brandings on air. It is unknown which is the station's official branding.
