Soldiers' Tower (University of Toronto)

Soldiers' Tower commemorates the students (1,200) of the University of Toronto who served during World War I. Commenced in 1919 and completed in 1924 by Sproatt and Rolph, the tower is a key building at the university.

The tower is 143 feet tall. The clock and the carillon were added in 1927. The initial cost of the Tower and Memorial Screen, the clock and the carillon was $252,500. A wall at the base of tower contains the names of students who died during World War I and other conflicts since.
