Neo-Taino

Neo-Taíno are the pre-Colombian indigenous Amerindian inhabitants of Cuba, the Lucaya of the Bahamas, Jamaica, and to a lesser extent of Haiti and Quisqueya (approximately the Dominican Republic) as opposed to the Taíno of Boriquen (Puerto Rico). Some scholars consider it important to distinguish the neo-Taíno nations from the original Taíno, since the neo-Taíno had far more diverse cultural input and a greater societal and ethnic heterogeneity than the original Taíno.Fact|date=February 2007

Taíno studies are in a state of both vigorous revival and conflict (Haslip-Viera, 2001). In this conflict deeply imbedded cultural mores, senses of nationality and ethnicity struggle with each other. Neo-Taíno nations and related ethnic groups (following Granberry and Vescelius, 2004) include:
