Becker College is a college in Massachusetts, United States with campuses in Worcester and Leicester.

History

The historic Leicester campus began as Leicester Academy in 1784 - the 19th oldest campus in the country, which claimed a charter signed by John Hancock. The Worcester campus was founded in 1887 by E.C.A. Becker.

In 1974, Becker Junior College and Leicester Junior College began working together to expand academic offerings and provide broader social and recreational opportunities for their students. As a result of their close cooperation, the two were formally consolidated in 1977 as Becker College.

Since that time, Becker, now a private, non-profit, regionally accredited, undergraduate college has consistently increased its reputation as an educational leader in the central Massachusetts area. Fields of study include human and animal health sciences including nursing and veterinary technology, various management and criminal justice disciplines and niche academic programs such as computer game design.

Athletics

The Becker College Department of Athletics currently sponsors Men's Intercollegiate Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Football and Lacrosse along with Women's Intercollegiate Softball, Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Equestrian, Soccer, Cheerleading and Volleyball. They compete in the NCAA Division III.
