The holding company, Examiner News & Information Services, also publishes a series of weekly newspapers distributed in the surrounding area, including the "Colne Valley Chronicle", "Holme Valley Express" and the "Huddersfield and District Chronicle". It is of the Trinity Mirror Group, which also owns the Daily Mirror and is the largest newspaper publisher in the United Kingdom.

The Examiner's chief sports correspondent is Mel Booth. He writes columns and match reports mainly although not always concerning the Coca-Cola League 1 local team Huddersfield Town F.C.
