Porthmadog cross town link

The Porthmadog cross town link is a narrow gauge railway being built to link the Welsh Highland Railway and the Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog [cite web |url=http://whr.bangor.ac.uk/maps/Phase4_South_070402.pdf |title=Construction Map South] .

This railway was historically called the Junction Railway [cite web |url=http://www.andygoodwin.com/whr/working/images/work8m.jpg|title=1922 Operating Instructions] , and has also been called, more recently, the Harbour Branch.

The railway previously existed as part of the Welsh Highland Railway, and was removed after that railway closed in 1936.

It is now being rebuilt using new powers obtained by the Ffestiniog Railway. The new railway will run from Harbour Station on the Ffestiniog Railway to Pen-y-Mount Station on the Welsh Highland Railway.

The route will be as follows:

* Around the back of the Wilkinsons supermarket. As such this is a deviation from the original line, that broadly speaking went in front of what is now the supermarket
* Across the back streets, in front of the old mill (in progress Spring 2008)
* Across the Cambrian Railway on the level (completed Nov 2006)
