Justin Murphy (born 24 April 1976) is an Australian rules footballer who has played with 4 clubs during his career. He attended De La Salle College Malvern

Began his junior footy with the Central Dragons.

Murphy is a true journeyman of the AFL, beginning his career at Richmond, before moving to Carlton, then to Geelong, back to Carlton, and finally, moving to Essendon, a team he said during his days with Carlton, that he despised.

Murphy is a midfielder who is deadly around goals, and possesses a thumping 55-metre-plus kick. He is most remembered for holding the ball in his hands when the final siren sounded after his team's 1999 upset 1-point preliminary final win against Essendon.

While Murphy had a new lease of life when initially arriving at Essendon in 2004, in 2005 he had an indifferent year, and with Murphy considering his options post-football, such as being a camera operator for Fox Footy, it is uncertain whether he will retain his place on Essendon's list in 2006.

In just days before the deadline for delisting players, Murphy announced his retirement from AFL football in November, 2005, perhaps facing the likelihood that his career would have ended, and the great journeyman would not want to try and find another club. He retired at 29 years of age, and will most likely continue his work with Fox Footy.

In 2006 Murphy signed with Diamond Valley powerhouse Heidelberg and capped off a brilliant year by kicking the sealing goal in the Grand Final victory against arch rival Bundoora, a year in which Murphy also ran second in the club best and fairest behind captain Blair Harvey.
