Greg Norton

Greg Norton (born March 13,1959 in Rock Island, Illinois) was the handlebar moustache bearing bassist for seminal Minnesota punk band Hüsker Dü. He wrote six songs with the band - "MTC", "Don't Have a Life", and "Let's Go Die", which appear on "Land Speed Record"; "From the Gut" and "Blah Blah Blah", which appear on "Everything Falls Apart"; and "Everytime", which appears on "The Living End".

After Hüsker Dü split in 1987 Norton formed the short lived band Grey Area with one-time Hüsker Dü engineer Colin Mansfield and Jo Jones. The band played many venues in the Twin Cities, as well as touring the South and Midwest. Their two studio recordings remain unreleased.

After Grey Area disbanded in 1991, Norton left the music business to focus on his career in the restaurant business, which began for him around the same time that Hüsker Dü formed. He and his second wife, Sarah, have worked together for about ten years, and eventually married in 2001. In 2003, Greg and Sarah opened Norton's, a wine-centered restaurant in Bay City, Wisconsin. According to the restaurant's website, Norton relocated the restaurant to Red Wing, MN in July 2008. While still maintaining the restaurant, Norton has since returned to music with his new band Gang Font feat. Interloper, who formed in early 2006 and have released one self-titled record. The group is composed of Norton on bass as well as Dave King (of The Bad Plus, Happy Apple, Halloween, Alaska, 12 Rods and the Love-Cars) on drums, Eric Fratzke of Zebulon Pike and Happy Apple on guitar, and Craig Taborn on keyboard.
