Schmucker Middle School

Paul H. Schmucker Middle School, located in Mishawaka, Indiana, is one of three middle schools in the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation. It has about 1050 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Besides Mishawaka, the students come from Granger, Osceola, South Bend and Elkhart.

The school is located on Bittersweet Road across from Penn High School. The principal is Janet Scott. The assistant principals are Sandra Leonard and John Gouker.

Schmucker Middle School has, in recent years, done quite well in many academic competitions, including MathCounts, Academic Super Bowl, Spell Bowl, and Knowledge Masters. The school is also does quite well in sports. The mascot is the Spartan, and the school fight song is to the tune of "On Wisconsin."

Schmucker Middle School has a music program including chorus, band, and orchestra. In the state music competition of Group ISSMA, the bands and orchestras, organized by grade, usually earn a "gold medal."

Some of the school's clubs are Skate Club, Ski Club, Study Club, and Art Club.

Most Schmucker graduates proceed on to high school at Penn High School.
