KDHT (HOT 93.3) is a Rhythmic Top 40 station serving the Austin area, but can be picked up in San Antonio, and at times breaks up the signal of Houston rhythmic station KPTY. The Emmis Communications outlet broadcasts at 93.3 MHz with an ERP of 100 kW and is licensed to Cedar Park, Texas. Its transmitter is located near Bertram, Texas; because of the tower's distance from Austin the station is also broadcasted over 99.7 MHz (K259AJ) for the Austin area. Old school hip hop is the genre for the HD-2 station which is currently down but can be heard on 93.3 HD-2 (HD Radio Needed)

History

The station began targeting the Austin radio market from Killeen, Texas in the mid 1980s as Top 40 KBTS, but by 1993 they would go through different formats.

By 2001 they returned to Top 40, This time as Dance-intensive KXMG(MEGA 93.3). It was also at this time that they changed its COL to Cedar Park as well.

In 2003 Emmis acquired the station and in the process evolved toward a R&B/Hip-Hop direction as "HOT 93.3". The move has paid off for them ratings wise.

KDHT is one of three Top 40s in Austin radio wars, the other two being Rhythmic (Urban) rival KXBT and Mainstream rival KHFI.
