Australian touch football

The name "Australian touch football" may refer to several different non-contact varieties of football, all of which were invented in Australia.

*The most common form, and one which is growing in popularity around the world, is Touch, which is commonly referred to as touch football in some parts of Australia and is based on rugby league. The game is usually called touch rugby in other countries.

*A game of touch football usually consists of a team of six (6) players on each side, with numbers of substitutions ranging from one to six.

*A game of touch football is played laterally over half of a rugby league field, with the onside being 5meters, compared to 10meters in rugby league.

*A game of touch football lasts 40min (2 x 20min halves)

* Most of the main rules of rugby league apply, however there is no kicking of the ball, the dummy half cannot be tagged with the ball or cannot score a try

*There are also non-contact variants of Australian rules football:
** AFL Recreational Football (or "Rec Footy"), promoted by the Australian Football League.
** Touch Aussie Rules promoted by Aussie Rules International
