Joseph Boakai

Joseph Nyumah Boakai (born November 30, 1944) is the Vice-President of Liberia. He is Vice-President to fellow Unity Party member Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

Education

Boakai is a graduate of the College of West Africa, the University of Liberia, and Kansas State University, which he attended on a USAID grant.

Political career

From 1983 to 1985, he served as the Liberian Minister of Agriculture under Master Sergeant Samuel Doe. While Minister of Agriculture, Boakai chaired the 15 nation West African Rice Development Association.
