Frankston Football Club

Frankston Football Club

The Frankston Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in Frankston, Victoria and currently playing in the Victorian Football League. It was formed in 1887. The Dolphins have no alignments to any AFL clubs and are not seeking a partner in the foreseeable future. Therefore, Frankston are at a disadvantage in the competition, as players from AFL clubs cannot be dropped back to play for them. However, this enables the Dolphins to continue as a true local football club, without being enveloped and overwhelmed by an AFL partner..

2006 saw full-forward Aaron Edwards shine for the Dolphins and saw them reach the finals only to go down to the Northern Bullants in the second week..

On the morning of February 13,2008 the Frankston Football Club's historic grandstand named after stalwart Bryan Mace was destroyed by fire. The police are treating it as suspicious. This grandstand had been there since the early 1930's and was an icon of the local community. Damage is estimated at over $1million.
