Committee for a Democratic UN

The Committee for a Democratic UN, or KDUN (for its German name "Komitee für eine demokratische UNO"), is a nongovernmental organization based in Berlin and founded in 2003[1] that advocates the "democratization and strengthening of the United Nations and other international organizations" [2].

Goal

KDUN's mandate includes the goal "to facilitate a cosmopolitan orientation of society, an improvement of international relations and the establishment of global democracy and global rule of law." [3]

Specifically, it advocates the creation of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly and "internet governance structures which allow for maximum utility and freedom for individual users as global citizens." [4]

KDUN is co-founder and international Secretariat of the International Campaign for the Establishment of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly. Its Advisory Council includes politicians from the German, Swiss and European Parliament.[5] Its supporters include former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali.[6]

It is associated member of the World Federalist Movement.[7]
