Ebeam

Ebeam

eBeam technology uses Infrared and Ultrasound to track the location of an active stylus or marker sleeve. A receiver determines the distance and direction of a transmitter using the known quantities and differences of the speed of light and the speed of sound.

The technology is currently used for several different applications including creating an interactive area on any flat surface and for interactive whiteboards. This is an efficient, robust, and inexpensive alternative to many other interactive whiteboard technologies.

The eBeam technology was developed and patented by engineers at Electronics for Imaging (EFI) and was purchased by Luidia, a spin-off of EFI. Luidia continues to develop the eBeam technology for many OEM applications as well as for their own brand.
