Zemu Glacier

Zemu Glacier

Zemu Glacier is the largest glacier in the Eastern Himalaya.

It is about 26 kilometres in length and found at the base of the Kangchenjunga in the Sikkim Himalaya, India. It may be one of the sources for the Teesta River.

Potential Yeti Sighting

At the head of the Zemu Glacier there is a gap called the Zemu Gap which leads to the Tongshyong Glacier on the East side of Kangchenjunga. The Zemu Gap is where Lord John Hunt (leader of the Everest Expedition in 1953) observed a long line footprints, at first he thought they were made by a German Expedtition in the area, however when meeting the German Expedition members later they denied having been in the area. From that time forward John Hunt became quite convinced that there was something about the Yeti phenomena.Fact|date=July 2007
