History

The true origins of the Orochi fighter known as Yashiro are shrouded in mystery. He was a wanderer who traveled the world at his leisure, and played his guitar to his heart's content.

He then found two people who seemed to understand him: in France, he met Shermie, a beautiful female keyboardist. Even though he noticed there was something familiar about her, Yashiro got hooked on her. Afterwards, in Sweden, he met a kid named Chris who, although seemingly quite antisocial, made an excellent drummer. Due to Chris' drumming ability, Yashiro thought of making a band, and soon they played all around the world, gaining thousands of fans. Yashiro became a celebrity, but he also felt something special between him and his partners.

Yashiro looked forward to playing at a big venue in Japan. The day arrived, and a huge crowd arrived at the performance. He then spotted a red-haired man stirring up the crowd. Yashiro left, but not without experiencing the feeling of something familiar in the soul of Iori, similar to Shermie and Chris.

Yashiro spent the following days developing deadly fighting techniques, so he could exact revenge on that redhead. His chance appeared by the time of the King of Fighters '97 tournament. However, his true self revealed itself throughout the tournament. He was revealed to be the sacred king of the parched earth, one of the four heavenly kings of Orochi, and proceeded to fight to get energy for the Orochi's resurrection. Despite his new form, however, the Orochi had achieved enough energy at that point. They then poured it all into Chris, who made a startling transformation into the original Orochi.

Moves

In KOF '97/98 Yashiro possessed a rushing punch combo attack and DM variation of it. This move was incredibly useful but was omitted in his '02 appearance. His HDM in that game, "Logjammin" reflects part of the move as it ends in his "Duel Uppercut", although the start-up is completely different, utilizing a Shoulder Tackle instead of going right into the punch combo.

Orochi Yashiro's moveset is similar to Goro Daimon (in the same way that Shermie's moveset is similar to Benimaru, and as Chris's moveset is similar to Kyo and Iori) as his role in the Heavenly Kings of Orochi is the King of the Earth, or ground. He even possesses a variation of Daimon's "Heaven to Hell Drop" DM, his version having differences in the animation sytle and a skull column appearing in the finish, a familiar ending to other fighters using the power of Orochi, including Rugal, Mature and Vice.

In his KOF '97/98 appearance, Orochi Yashiro possessed the ability to summon power from the ground and project it into a blue beam attack . This technique, the DM "Howling Earth", is missing from his '02 appearance. Instead Orochi Yashiro had an new, nearly unstoppable technique as his HDM called the "Armageddon Fist", an incredibly fast, and unblockable dashing punch with an autoguard quality (through one hit attacks) that dealt over 50% damage.

Appearances

Despite the fact that Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris are assumed dead post The King of Fighters '97, they continue making non-canon appearances.

Yashiro appears as Ralf's Another Striker in KOF 2000 and in the ending of Shermie in SNK Gal Fighters where he points out it would have been better to use the magic talisman to awaken Orochi rather than get a big hamster cage.

Yashiro makes a cameo in , he's in the Esaka stage with Goro Daimon, and Ramon.

Yashiro is 190 cm (6' 3") tall and he is known for one of the tallest fighters in the KOF series.

Orochi Yashiro

The Orochi New Face Team is made as counterpart to the Japan Team, with Orochi Yashiro being the counterpart of Goro Daimon. In Orochi Form, Yashiro becomes able to utilize the element of earth, increasing his physical strength and turning into a grappler character. His skin tone also turns a darker hue and the color of his jacket changes to a pink tint. Along with Shermie and Chris's Orochi transformations, Yashiro loses much of his original personality and becomes crazed similar to Iori's "riot of the blood", although the three are able to control the mindset of the transformation to a degree.

Orochi Yashiro's theme song is titled Rhythmic Hallucination which is also the theme song for the Orochi team in KOF97.
