Maria of Habsburg and her Daughter Maria Eleonore

Archduchess Maria of Austria (May 15, 1531 – December 11, 1581) was the daughter of Emperor Ferdinand I and Anna of Bohemia and Hungary from the House of Habsburg.

She married Wilhelm, Duke of Jülich-Cleves-Berg on July 18, 1546 as his second wife and they had the following children:

  1. Marie Eleonore (June 25, 1550 – 1608)
    • married Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia.
  2. Anna (March 1, 1552 – October 6, 1632)
  3. Magdalene (November 2, 1553 – July 30, 1633)
  4. Karl Friedrich (1555–75)
  5. Elizabeth (1556–61)
  6. Sibylle (1557–1627)
  7. John William (May 28, 1562 – March 25, 1609), Bishop of Münster, Count of Altena, Duke of Jülich-Cleves-Berg.
    1. married in 1585 to Jakobea of Baden (1558–97), daughter of Philibert, Margrave of Baden-Baden
    2. married in 1599 to Antonia of Lorraine (1568–1610), daughter of Charles III, Duke of Lorraine).
