Bletchingdon

Bletchingdon is a village and civil parish in the Cherwell district of Oxfordshire, England, a couple of miles north of Kidlington. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 872.

The village is also known as Bletchington, and is more commonly referred to as such in official references such as [http://www.adslguide.org.uk/availability/btprereg_history.asp?code=SMBTN BT's telephone exchange database] .

Until 1322 the Lord of the Manor of Bletchington was Roger, Lord d'Amory.

It is famous as the one time home of Sir Christopher Wren who came to live in the Rectory. However the village was known as Bletchingham during this time.
