Linwood Boomer

Linwood Boomer (born October 9, 1955 Fact|date=September 2008) is a Canadian television producer, writer, actor, and creator of the Fox television series "Malcolm in the Middle" from 2000 to 2006.

Early life

Boomer was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the second youngest of four children. He was enrolled in a gifted program in school, just like the character Malcolm in the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle that he created. His mother is Eileen. Boomer created the show "Malcolm in the Middle" based on things that happened in his real life: He was the second child to be born, his mother was very strict and his older brother use to fight a lot with him.

Boomer is married to Tracy Katsky and is the father of four children. Fact|date=September 2008

Career

Linwood Boomer began his career as an actor, After playing Adam Kendall on "Little House on the Prarie" that began on the season four finale episode and continued to play the character for the next four years, Boomer began focusing his talents on the behind-the-scenes aspects of television.

Boomer's writing and executive producing credits include "Night Court", "Flying Blind", "The Boys Are Back", "Townies", "3rd Rock From the Sun" and God, the Devil and Bob. He also created and executive produced the pilots "Family Business", "Nice Try", and the U.S. version of "Red Dwarf", and served as an executive producer under James L. Brooks for the pilot of "Big".

Malcolm in the Middle

Although Boomer has created and produced and acted in many television series, he is best known for creating the FOX sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle". The debuted episode of the series was watched by 22.5 million viewers, and the second episode was watched by 26 million viewers. Fact|date=September 2008The series ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006. The series in total had 151 episodes. Boomer got the opportunity of directing five episodes of the series, starting with the episode Dewey's Opera, Stilts, Reese vs. Stevie, Bride of Ida and the last episode of the series Graduation. Boomer received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing Comedy Series for the Pilot episode.
