Black+White

"Black+White" was a bimonthly Australian magazine published by Studio Magazines that debuted in the summer of 1992. For a period it was also known as (Not Only) Black+White magazine.

"Black+White" showcased art, photography and graphic design as well as interviews with celebrities and features on popular culture and current events. It featured work by Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz and David LaChapelle amongst many others.

The magazine, however, gained most of its notoriety for publishing nude photographs of (mainly Australian) celebrities within its pages, most particularly those of Australian athletes set to compete in the Olympic Games. Although the images were shot in an artistic manner and are not meant for titillation, they still drew controversy from conservative groups in Australia, and with some figures such as Lauren Jackson, overseas.
