Caltex Woolworths is a chain of petrol stores in Australia, owned by Caltex Australia and Woolworths Limited in a 50:50 joint venture. In Victoria, it trades as Caltex Safeway. Caltex Woolworths is notably known for offering a 4-cents-per-litre discount off the pump price, for customers who present a docket obtained after spending a qualifying amount of $30 or more at Woolworths and Safeway supermarkets and Big W department stores.

The 4-cents-per-litre discount is doubled to 8c if a petrol buyer also purchases goods to the value of at least $5 at the petrol station convenience store and pays for both petrol and goods in the one transaction.

During 2008 Woolworths launched its Everyday Rewards Card. Customers can now redeem their discount vouchers by swiping their cards at Woolworths checkouts and receive the discount by swiping their cards at Caltex Woolworths petrol stations.

History

The fuel discount offer began in Dubbo, New South Wales in 1996 [cite web | publisher = Woolworths Limited | title = Our History | url= http://www.woolworthslimited.com.au/aboutus/ourhistory/index.asp | accessdate = 2007-09-17 ] as Woolworths Plus Petrol. The offer initially involved an escalating scale of discount off the price of petrol depending on the amount spent to qualify – $30.00-$59.99 for 2c per litre, $60.00-$149.99 for 4c per litre, and $150.00 and above for 6c per litre. After Coles' 2003 fuel offer launch – an alliance with major oil company Shell Australia – Woolworths announced a joint venture with Caltex. Caltex would supply fuel to the outlets and they would be co-branded. All Woolworths Petrol and selected Caltex sites near Woolworths supermarkets were rebranded accordingly. There are now over 500 co-branded Caltex Woolworths outlets across Australia.
