Versus "joke thieves"

Joe Rogan is known for accusing other comedians of plagiarism, most prominently Carlos Mencia. He has also accused Dane Cook of stealing jokes from comedians like Bill Hicks, Louis C.K. and himself.Fact|date=November 2007 During a conversation on the "Opie and Anthony Show" with Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada following the Michael Richards incident, Rogan demanded to know why certain words are banned while copied material is tolerated. Clips of Louis C.K. and Dane Cook were then played to support Rogan's claim that Cook has stolen material.

On February 10, 2007 at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles, Rogan argued on-stage with Carlos Mencia, accusing him of plagiarizing other comedians' work. [cite web | last = Rogan| first =Joe | authorlink = Joe Rogan| coauthors = | url = http://blog.joerogan.net/archives/92 | title = Carlos Mencia is a weak minded joke thief. | format = | work = | publisher = JoeRogan.com | date=2005-09-27|accessdate = 2006-09-05] According to Rogan's account, he had just finished his act and introduced the next performer, Ari Shaffir, as a comedian who opens for "Carlos Men-steal-ia".http://www.joerogan.net/main.php?archives=1&article=53945] Mencia took offense and walked on the stage. Rogan then accused him of stealing jokes and falsely portraying himself as a Mexican American. The Comedy Store later cancelled Rogan's shows. The entire incident was filmed as part of filming for Rogan's internet reality show, "JoeShow". It was then made available to watch or download at numerous websites, including Rogan's.

According to Rogan, he is currently banned from the Comedy Store for violating the club's request that he not film his internet reality show there. [http://www.joerogan.net/main.php?archives=1&article=53955] According to Pauly Shore, whose mother owns the club, Rogan is not banned.Fact|date=November 2007 Furthermore, according to Rogan, his agent and publicity firm (who also represents Mencia) demanded that he either apologize to Mencia or else be dropped from the agency, upon which he left the firm. Conspiracy theories

Rogan questions the Apollo moon landings and is interested in the idea of the Apollo moon landing hoax theory, and in February 2007 he appeared twice on Penn Jillette's "Penn Radio" show debating astrophysicist and author Phil Plait about the subject. On August 16, 2007, he appeared on KROQ's "Kevin and Bean" morning show and reiterated his views that human beings never landed on the moon. [http://kroq.vo.llnwd.net/o1/kbpodcasts/KBpodcast_81607.mp3] He also went on to say that he has questions over the John F. Kennedy assassination and 7 World Trade Center looked to be imploded rather than collapsing because of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Joe is also a long time friend of radio talk show host Alex Jones, who is seen by many as a conspiracy theorist; however, he does not agree with many of Alex's views.
