Brian Glennie

Brian Glennie

Brian Glennie (born 29 August, 1946 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the NHL from 1969 until 1979. He was a member of Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series, but he did not play against the Soviet Union. However, Brian played in two of the "exhibition" games against Sweden [http://www.1972summitseries.com/swedengame1.html] and Czechoslovakia [http://www.1972summitseries.com/czechoslovakia.html] .

Glennie played 572 career NHL games, all but 18 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, scoring 14 goals and 100 assists for 114 points. Paired frequently with the offensive-styled Jim McKenny, Glennie was a defensive defenceman and a master of the lost art of the hip-check.
