Sony Watchman

Sony Watchman

The Sony Watchman is a line of portable pocket televisions trademarked and produced by Sony.

FD-210

The initial model was introduced in 1982 as the FD-210, becoming the first mass-produced pocket television. The FD-210 had a greyscale five centimetre display. The device weighed around 650 grammes, with a measurement of 87 x 198 x 33 millimetres. The device was sold in Japan with a price of 54,800 yen. Roughly two years later, in 1984, the device was introduced to Europe and North America.

Later Releases

Upon the release of further models, the display size increased, among other things. The FD-45, which released in 1986, was water-resistant. The [http://www.guenthoer.de/bilder-neu/fd-10-gr.jpgFD-10A] may have been the last of the flat-CRT B&W display-equipped models because in 1990, the FDL-310 was released with an entirely different type of display in the Watchman: LCD. This technology allowed for a color display.
