Kate Robbins

Kate Robbins

Kate Robbins (born August 21, 1960 in Liverpool, Lancashire) is an English actress and impressionist.

She first came to prominence whilst representing United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the group Prima Donna. They finished an unexpected third.

A second cousin of Paul McCartney, she got her first big break in the ITV soap opera "Crossroads" in 1981. As part of the storyline, she recorded a single in the Motel's studio called "More Than in Love" (written by Simon May). When released as a single (in tandem with male group Beyond - themselves a failed Eurovision act), the track got to number two in the UK singles chart. It was included on his compilation album "" in 1994. Robbins dubbed the singing for Jaye Davidson in the 1992 film "The Crying Game".

She is now best known for providing almost all of the female voices on the television show "Spitting Image" in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She also had a TV show with her brother, Ted Robbins. Other siblings are Amy Robbins, Emma Robbins and Jane Robbins. Robbins also wrote the original, well-known theme tune to "Surprise, Surprise".

Robbins is perhaps best known today for providing the regional British dubbing for various semi-nude Europeans featured on quirky Channel 4 series "Eurotrash". She has also made two appearances as a guest on the BBC Radio 4 program "Just a Minute" in 2006.

Film work

Kate has recently taken to acting in feature films. She was named Best Supporting Actress at the Angel Awards of the Monaco International Film Festival for her role as Kathleen in the low-budget British film 'Fated'.

She has been cast in the comedy film "Lunchbox" as a man-hungry teacher called Suzanne.

She is also the cofounder of Snowfall Films, together with Suzanne Lyons. [http://www.snowfallfilms.com/HTML/about_us.html]
