List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers monsters (Season Two)

List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers monsters (Season Two)

This is a list of fictional monsters from the Power Rangers universe, specifically those that first appeared in the television series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers". Monsters from later series can be found in the List of Power Rangers monsters articles. Other season monsters can be found on List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers monsters (Season One) and List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers monsters (Season Three). Ten monsters in this season come from footage commonly referred to as "Zyu2" -- footage featuring the ZyuRangers, but not from the original source sentais "Kyouryuu Sentai ZyuRanger" and "Gosei Sentai Dairanger". Only 9 monsters from Dairanger appeared in US Footage. In this season, a monster would be made giant when Lord Zedd would summon a grenade that he would then launch to Earth. Some monsters would catch the grenade, disconnect the pin from it, then place it on the ground before the grenade exploded. Other times the grenade just merely exploded upon impact on Earth.

Monster List

Here is a list of monsters in this season:

Pirantishead

* First Appearance: "The Mutiny, Part 1" (7/21/94)

When Lord Zedd took over Rita's palace, he used his staff to transform a piranha on Earth into Pirantishead. Pirantishead was able to freeze the Saber-Toothed Tiger, Triceratops, Mastodon, & Pterodactyl Dinozords. He then used the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord and Dragonzord against the Rangers. Billy was able to create a device to free the Dinozords from Pirantishead. After the zords are restored, Lord Zedd attempts to bury them deep into the Earth, but Alpha is able to save them and transform them into the new Thunderzords. The Thunder Megazord was able to destroy Pirantishead with its Thunder Saber.

Later, in the episode "A Reel Fish Story", Zedd summons Pirantishead again to battle the Rangers, along with several other aquatic monsters. This time, it is destroyed by the White Ranger wielding Saba.

Pirantishead comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger. Due to the discongruity between the "Zyu2" monster and the DaiRanger zords, there's a brief second of footage featuring Vase Face being attacked by the Thunder Megazord, and a scene of the original Megazord taking damage.

Primator

* First Appearance: "The Wanna-Be Ranger" (9/13/94)

Created by Lord Zedd from Zack's white gorilla suit, Primator was a white baboon/ape monster that had the ability to shape shift into any of the Power Rangers, in both their Ranger forms and as normal teenagers. He attacked Alpha 5 in a failed attempt to infiltrate the Command Center, then battled the Power Rangers, completely overwhelming them with his strength & shape shifting powers. Besides his ability to transform, Primator could also fire white lightning bolts from his hands, as well as some type of unseen blast from his head. When disguised as the Red Ranger, Primator could fire explosive laser beams from the "Tyrannosaurus" eyes of the helmet. Lastly, Primator could teleport & was armed with a lance. With Zordon's help, the Rangers figured out that having Primator see himself in reflective surfaces would revert him to his true form. Grown to giant size by Lord Zedd, Primator fought the Thunder Megazord & Dragonzord, but was destroyed by the Thunder Saber.

He was later resurrected in "Zedd's Monster Mash" as one of Zedd's favorite monsters in the graveyard of Doomstone. Even later, when three of the Rangers were transported into the storybook Grumble the Magic Elf, they encountered a snow monster that looked very similar to Primator.

Primator comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger. Due to the discongruity between the "Zyu2" monster and the DaiRanger zords, there's a brief second of footage where the original Megazord can been seen beside the Dragonzord.

aliguana

* First Appearance: "Putty on the Brain" (9/14/94)

Saliguana was a hybrid of an iguana & a mythical salamander, capable of living in & breathing fire. He could also extend his tongue & use it as a rope. Salaguana was created by Lord Zedd from Miss Appleby's pet iguana. After Salaguana terrorized Bulk & Skull, he fought Zack & Billy. Because of the iguana half, Saliguana was cold-blooded and therefore his powers would be weakened by cooler temperatures. Zack and Billy finally extinguished his flame breath with an ice weapon & assaulted him with the Power Blaster, weakening him to the point of his near destruction, forcing Zedd to make him grow.

After the ensuing battle, the Thunder Megazord destroyed Saliguana with its Thunder Saber. Because Zedd's magic was lifted, Saliguana reverted back to Miss Appleby's iguana, whom Bulk and Skull attempted to use to track down the Rangers in a failed attempt.

Saliguana was later re-created by Finster to battle the Rangers in the "Specter Theater." After fighting them, Saliguana attended Zedd & Rita's wedding, bringing them a human skull as a wedding gift. When the monsters attacked the Rangers, Saliguana was destroyed, by the Thunder Megazord.

Saligauana comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger. Due to the discongruity between the "Zyu2" monster and the DaiRanger zords, Saliguana's tongue appears black instead of red when wrapped around the Thunder Megazord -- this is actually the black tongue of Evil Bookala.

Bloom of Doom

* First Appearance: "Bloom of Doom" (9/17/94)

A multi-eyed flower monster created by Lord Zedd from some flowers. She has long vine arms that she can use to entangle her victim in her clutches, and she can also spray incendiary pollen at her victims, which causes a severe burning sensation on their skin. She also traps Kimberly, who is under Zedd's spell of jealousy, inside an alternate dimension with her by simply getting her to stare into her eyes. Trini frees her by launching her daggers at a 90-degree trajectory course, shattering the dimension and releasing both Kimberly and the monster. Kimberly, freed of the evil spell, teams up with Trini to pummel the monster. Kimberly was given a special weapon to combat the Bloom of Doom -— a ribbon weapon similar in appearance to a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon. The other Rangers arrive on the scene and obliterate Bloom of Doom with the Power Blaster.

Bloom of Doom comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger.

Robogoat

* First Appearance: "The Green Dream" (9/19/94)

Robogoat was a mythical cyborg goat brought to life from an illustration in Tommy's "Myths and Legends" book by Lord Zedd. He was sent to battle the Rangers and steal their Sword of Power. Though successful, Robogoat eventually lost the sword back to the Rangers, which forced Zedd to make him grow. He clobbered the Thunder Megazord pretty severely, but the Rangers recovered. He was destroyed by the Thunder Megazord.

Robogoat was later resurrected in the Doomstone's graveyard, as well as inside the Specter Theater for Rita and Zedd's wedding. He was one of the 6 monsters to grow large in part 3 of "The Wedding", where he met his end by the White Tigerzord's fire blasts.

Robogoat comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger. Due to the discongruity between the "Zyu2" monster and the DaiRanger zords, there's a brief second of footage where the original Megazord can been seen behind an explosion.

Octophantom

* First Appearance: "The Power Stealer" (9/20/94)

A octopus/elephant monster created by Lord Zedd to capture the Rangers in a magic jar & drain them of their powers. Octophantom is very vain and considers himself to be very handsome. He is also rather effeminate and does not like to get hit in the face (particularly speaking, his trunk). Other than his undying love for himself, Octophantom is also extremely powerful. He is able to trap four of the Rangers, but Billy & Jason concoct a plan to use a mirror in order to occupy Octophantom's attention and free their captured friends. Octophantom falls for the trick, and the team is reunited. Zedd grows angrier and makes Octophantom grow, which eventually results in Octophantom's destruction by the Thunder Megazord's Thunder Saber.

Octophantom was later seen as one of the 4 monsters who accompanied Rito Revolto in destroying the Thunder Megazord and White Tigerzord in part 1 of "Ninja Quest."

Octophantom was also in the large crowd of monsters in Prince Gasket's Machine Arena, part of Rita and Zedd's army on a planet in the Vica Galaxy, and later seen on the planet Onyx.

Octophantom comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger. There are a couple of brief scenes of U.S. footage featuring Octophantom and the Thunder Megazord exchanging blows.

tag Beetle

* First Appearance: "The Beetle Invasion" (9/21/94)

Created by Lord Zedd out of a drawing on a flyer outside the Youth Center for Stone Canyon's broomball team, the Stag Beetle was a monster that could drain opponents of their energy & use it against them. Stag Beetle could project energy bolts from his claws & pincers and shock his foes with claws. In his fight with the Rangers, he managed to completely drain Tommy of his Green Ranger powers. As he battled the other Rangers, he fired blast after blast at them, and with each blast it used up the Green Ranger power. Alpha 5 created a device called the "Green Energy Transducer" for Tommy to use against the Stag Beetle. By absorbing some of Stag Beetle's energy into the Transducer, Tommy was able to regain some of his lost powers. Afterwards, the Rangers assembled the Power Blaster and fired, causing the monster to fall over. Jason realized that the monster was not yet finished as Lord Zedd used a growth grenade to make the Stag Beetle grow. During the Zord battle, the Stag Beetle talked incessantly about using his pincers to attack the Rangers, repeatedly blasting them with green energy from his pincers and using his claws to electrocute the Thunder Megazord. He knocked the Megazord down, repeatedly kicking it, forcing the Rangers to switch to emergency power for the first time with their new zords. The Thunder Megazord chopped off Stag Beetle's pincers, greatly upsetting the monster. Stag Beetle was then defeated with the Thunder Saber.

Later, in "Ninja Quest, Part I", Stag Beetle was recreated by Finster to assist Rito Revolto in successfully ambushing and destroying the Thunder Zords. He was later shown wandering around on Onyx.

Stag Beetle comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger. Due to the discongruity between the "Zyu2" monster and the DaiRanger zords, there's a brief second of footage featuring Stag Beetle kicking the original Megazord and a brief second of footage featuring the White Tigerzord.

Invenusable Flytrap

* First Appearance: "Welcome to Venus Island" (9/24/94)

The Invenusable Flytrap is a venus flytrap monster created by Lord Zedd who proves to be a challenge for the Power Rangers. Goldar kidnaps Trini's young neighbor, Haley, and holds her for ransom on Lord Zedd's mystical Venus Island. When the Rangers come to save her, Lord Zedd plans to ransom her for the Green Ranger. After 4 of the Rangers are absorbed by the monster, the remaining Rangers must race against the clock to get to Venus Island before it vanishes. They are able to track the whereabouts of Venus Island thanks to Billy's experimentation with wind direction, which pinpoints the correct location. Tommy learns that Zedd will give up the girl if he takes her place, becoming the evil Green Ranger again. Tommy agrees but Alpha finds a way for Tommy and Trini to save the others. Trini and Tommy save their friends and are able to defeat the Invenusable Fly Trap by blowing him up with the Power Blaster. They rescue Haley in time and return her home.

Later, Invenusable Fly Trap helped to guard the Rock of Time from the Rangers. Even later, the monster was seen at the Spectre Theater and at Rita and Zedd's wedding (where Grumble Bee tried to make a toast with him, and the two monsters smashing their glass together). He was later seen drinking and relaxing with Incisorator and Dischordia at the Master Vile's End of the World Party.

Invenusable Flytrap was opened to freeing The Shadow World's Underground Tomb and them opening gateway undead monsters.

Invenusable Fly Trap comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger.

NOTE: The Invenusable Flytrap, in his first appearance in "Welcome To Venus Island," had an effeminate voice and was initially referred to as a female. But, in all later appearances, the monster had a male voice and was referred to as a male monster first in "Rangers Back In Time Part II" when Kim said "not him again".

Guitardo

* First Appearance: "The Song of Guitardo" (9/26/94)

A guitar-playing cicada monster with a hypnotic sound created by Lord Zedd from a cicada crawling next to Kimberly's guitar. The guitar Guitardo uses is taken from Kimberly and warped for Zedd's powerful monster to use. Guitardo plays rock tunes and hypnotizes its victim's bodies. Guitardo manages to capture Zack, Trini, Billy, and Jason. Kimberly is saved in the nick of time by Tommy, but Tommy takes a great risk by taking on Guitardo with extremely low power. He manages to take the monster down, but Guitardo's musical mayhem prevails when he starts releasing his tunes yet again. Tommy temporarily retaliates with his draggon dagger, learning that the key to winning is to fight music with music. Once Kimberly shows up, she helps Tommy and they combine Kimberly's power bow (now strung like a harp) with Tommy's Dragon Dagger. Kimberly blasts the Dragon Dagger straight into Guitardo, obliterating him.

After the defeat of Guitardo, Kimberly's guitar is brought back to its normal state (and because of the fate of all monsters created by Zedd, it is presumed the cicada was returned to normal as well).

Guitardo was one of the many monsters that aided Divatox in conquering Gratha, but was destroyed by Zordon's energy wave. He was later seen bidding on the pink quasar saber on Onyx.

Guitardo comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger.

Turbanshell

* First Appearance: "Green No More, Part 1" (9/27/94)

Created by Lord Zedd from the large & unusual shell that Kim had found at the lake, Turbanshell is a mollusk monster. Turbanshell wields a staff with a large spiked shell on one end, projects energy beams from his face, and can project an energy twister from his staff. He also seems to grow giant on his own accord, rather than through Zedd's growth bomb. Turbanshell was able to seal itself up in its shell and hurl itself at the Thunder Megazord, knocking it over, and cause the Rangers to eject from it. Turbanshell takes a break and goes back to Zedd, who becomes furious with Turbanshell for leaving the battle while having the upperhand.

Turbanshell was then sent to fight Tommy, as he was able to absorb the last of his powers. Turbanshell causes Tommy to desperately fight back even without his powers. Goldar intervenes and tells Turbanshell that he'll continue torturing Tommy while Turbanshell resumes his destruction of Angel Grove. Turbanshell is hesitant at first and wants to be the one to finish Tommy, but Goldar threatens him and reminds him of his status as an underling, letting him know that Lord Zedd has other plans for him. Turbanshell continues to attack Angel Grove after Goldar takes over his place.

In the meantime, Turbanshell's onslaught is broadcast on television and the Rangers feel helpless since they can do nothing to put a stop to him at that time. Tommy manages to escape from Goldar, returning to Angel Grove. Tommy then deceives Turbanshell by hiding in a cart of watermelons, which Turbanshell eats. Tommy attacks the monster from the inside with intense heat and then Zack grabs a nearby water hose, rapidly cooling Turbanshell's exterior, causing him to freeze. With the monster severely weakened, and Tommy clear, the Thunderzords are brought back, and the Rangers quickly defeat the monster with the Thunder Saber. He is later seen among the monsters assisting the Lord Zedd & Rita's army in fighting Trey the Gold Ranger in "Countdown To Destruction"

Turbanshell comes from what is commonly referred to as "Zyu2" footage, and was not seen in the original ZyuRanger or DaiRanger. Due to discongruity between the ZyuRanger and DaiRanger zords, there is a brief second of footage featuring the original Megazord taking damage.

Pipebrain

* First Appearance: "Missing Green" (10/3/94)

A trophy/pipe monster created by Lord Zedd from the Golden Pipe karate trophy. His main mission was to eliminate the Red Ranger while the other Rangers were to be drained of their powers with magical candles, just as Tommy had lost his powers the first time because of Rita's Green Candle. Jason had to overcome his guilt in order to take down Pipebrain. Jason battles Pipebrain alone and then summons the Red Dragon Thunderzord to take him down. Pipebrain's body has tentacles and eyes at each end, which he uses to blast, similar to eye lasers. Once Red Dragon Thunderzord goes into battle mode, it does a series of multiple roundhouse kicks, balancing on his staff. He then repeatedly spins the staff, emitting a spin-cycle of red blasts which destroys Pipebrain. Jason would stop the magic candles from burning out and save his friends and preserve their powers.

Pipebrain was the first monster from 'Dairanger' to be used in the series.

Trumpet Top

* First Appearance: "Orchestral Maneuvers in the Park" (10/4/94)

An illusion-casting trumpet monster created by Zedd from the trumpet that belonged to Zack's uncle. He caused the Rangers to see illusions of old monsters including Grumble Bee Saliguana Fighting Flea Soccadillo Rhinoblaster Mantis Stag Beetle & Slippery Shark until Zordon told them they weren't real. As soon as the Rangers found out, Zedd made Trumpet Top grow. During the Thunder Megazord battle, Trumpet Top breathed fire at the Rangers, disarming the Thunder Megazord, and then proceeding to use the Thunder Saber against the Thunder Megazord. The Thunder Megazord charged the saber with electricity, knocking it out of Trumpet Top's hand and back into its own. Almost immediately afterwards, the Rangers destroyed Trumpet Top with the Thunder Saber.

Nimrod was extremely powerful and the added strength of AC and DC made all three of them even more deadly. They were able to topple the Thunder Megazord, leaving the Rangers temporarily defeated. The Thunderzords were unable to continue battle, the Command Center being shut down caused a defficency of power. After Tommy gained the powers of the White Ranger, he was able to take on the monsters. Nimrod and her cohorts AC and DC were the first to face the new White Tigerzord and the first to be defeated by the Mega Tigerzord.

NOTE: In the Power Rangers: The Movie game for the Sega Genesis, the monsters were referred to as S. Sentinel Ring, S. Sentinel Ear, and S. Sentinel Neck, a reference to their DaiRanger names of "Lady Ring", "Lady Earring", and "Lady Necklace".

Pursehead

* First Appearance: "Two for One" (10/24/94)

A purse monster created by Lord Zedd from Kimberly's purse after a Z-Putty stole it. Pursehead manages to freeze Tommy and Kimberly by using a compact ray. When Zack comes to their aid, he gets frozen as quickly as they did. Once Trini and Billy finish working on the device needed to free the other rangers from the spell, they rush to the rescue and Trini distracts Pursehead while Billy uses the device. They are successful in freeing the other rangers, but when Jason is in trouble in the battle against the Lipsyncher, they must go to Jason's aid. Tommy tells the Rangers that he will stay behind and battle Pursehead by himself while the others battle Lipsyncher. Pursehead starts off by getting out some mystical dental floss and wraping it around Tommy in a rope-like fashion. Saba helps Tommy by floating above the fight and blasting Pursehead with his eye lasers. Pursehead gets hurt and releases Tommy from his stranglehold. Tommy then dashes at the monster and performs multiple powerful kicks sending the monster sprawling. Pursehead can no longer maintain his form so he turns right back into Kimberly's purse.

When Lipsyncher faces off against Jason, she gets extremely annoyed when her face gets damaged, as she is very vain. Zedd makes her grow and Jason calls on the Red Dragon Thunder Zord, which ends up losing in a one-on-one match against the Lipsyncher. The other Rangers soon arrive, and the individual Thunderzords take on Lipsyncher. Lipsyncher was defeated by the Thunder Megazord in Attack Mode. Red Dragon Thunderzord did a spin-cycle in the air with its staff, slicing her.

Magnet Brain can toss the huge magnet he carries around with him like a weapon. The Power Blaster didn't destroy Magnet Brain, but simply knocked him against the wall, barely harming him. After growing and attaching the magnet to the Thunder Mega Zord's chest, Magnet Brain makes the magnet charge up with magnetic light waves, completely shocking the zord. However, when the zord slices the magnet in half, it manages to strike back with the Thunder Saber, defeating the monster. Upon the monster's defeat, Billy's device is returned to its normal state.

With the sides more even, Billy is able to kick Doomstone, causing him to lose grip of Tommy's morpher. After Tommy morphs, Doomstone again tries to take advantage, by bringing back Primator, Rhinoblaster, Invenusable Fly Trap, and Snizzard. But, the Rangers are able to handle all of these previously defeated foes with ease.

Shortly thereafter, Lord Zedd makes the Pumpkin Rapper grow, and the Rangers run off to battle him. Doomstone's fate is unclear, as he is never shown being defeated.

They are teleported to the command center so Billy can try to revert the effects of the poison, and he eventually succeeds. Later, Terror Blossom unleashes his flower petals onto the Thunder Megazord. Tommy comes to aid them with the Tigerzord until Zordon informs him that Rocky, Adam, and Aisha need their help or they will be converted into Zedd's Dark Rangers. Tommy gathers Billy, Trini, and Kimberly and they go to the rescue while Jason and Zack continue to battle the Terror Blossom. Shortly afterwards, Jason uses the Thunder Saber to destroy the Terror Blossom in a cloud of flower petals.

Four Head

* First Appearance: "A Monster of Global Proportions" (11/5/94)

A four-headed monster created by Lord Zedd from the sculpture done by the Angel Grove High art class. The statuette was a representation of peace -- it's four faces represent wisdom, beauty, strength, and vitality. After attempting to defeat the monster with the Power Blaster, Lord Zedd makes the monster grow. The Mega Tigerzord is soon formed, but the monster manages to deflect the Firebird blast back at the zord. Zordon bring forth Tor the Shuttlezord to aid the Rangers. The monster manages to topple Tor and the Red Dragon Thunderzord, unleashing an onslaught of charged blasts from her beam rod. Tor transforms into battle mode, sending numerous green blazing rockets and missiles right at Four Head. The Red Dragon Thunderzord enters Tor's shell, re-energizing the zord. The Rangers then form the Thunder Ultrazord, which takes to the air with the aid of the Red Dragon Thunderzord's spinning staff. Four Head was destroyed when the Thunder Ultrazord landed directly on top of her, crushing her. The Four Headed sculpture is returned to its place of origin when the monster is killed.

Beamcaster

* First Appearance: "Zedd Waves" (11/7/94)

A radio-themed monster created by Lord Zedd from Bulk's energy output meter and a fishing pole that belonged to Skull's dad. Beamcaster talks like a radio disc jockey. Beamcaster also has different-shaped bombs that explode after he lights the fuse and tosses them. He creates "Zedd waves" that make all unsuspecting bystanders enter a trance and recite "hail Lord Zedd," including Jason, Trini, and Zack. When the other Rangers arrive, Billy and Kimberly get surrounded by the controlled citizens, and they too get struck by Beamcaster's Zedd waves. Tommy manages to dodge Beamcaster a few times, but eventually, Beamcaster gets him under the trance as well.

Rocky, Adam, and Aisha appear and save what is left of Billy's device, which was supposed to snap people out of the trance. Aisha tries to fix it so that the Rangers can be saved. The rays that are emitted from the device work, and the Rangers are freed. After a brief skirmish, Beamcaster is defeated by the Power Blaster.

After a brief fight with the Power Rangers, Silver Horns grows giant and battles the Red Dragon Thunderzord. The fight didn't go very well, with Silverhorns tossing the zord around like a ragdoll, with the zord's effects being minimal and most attacks blocked. The Red Dragon Thunderzord's finisher is attempted on Silverhorns, but fails to destroy the monster. The finisher's use is not seen onscreen. The Tigerzord soon showed up for backup, but Silverhorns still easily overpowers the two zords. Later, the other Rangers arrive with their zords, combining to form the Thunder Ultrazord, which crushes Silver Horns.

Despite Tommy's comments that Skelerena was tough, the monster was not shown once attacking the Rangers. The Rangers receive the new Power Cannon, which easily destroys the monster.

Skelerena appears as the third boss of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie video game for the SNES. Skelerena could breath fire from his mouth and use his claws to attack. Adam collects some prisms from Billy's lab to use to reflect Scatterbrain's beam, bringing back the memories of their friends. Just when Adam arrives to save the Rangers, Scatterbrain uses the beam on him, erasing his memory and leaving Aisha and Rocky to face the monster on their own. They try to secure the dropped prisms, but they too fall victim to the Scatterbrain's beam and lose their memory.

The prisms fall to the ground next to Bulk and Skull, who had been watching the fight and had finally discovered the identity of the Power Rangers. With the Rangers no longer able to do anything and not even familiar with each other, Bulk and Skull confront the monster, hiding the prisms behind their backs. When the Scatterbrain shoots its beam at them as well, the prisms reflect the beams, restoring everyone's memories. The Rangers are now morphed again, and shortly thereafter defeat the monster with the Thunder Saber.

Free of the spell, Rocky joined Tommy in the battle against Pachinko Head, whom has since grown. The other Rangers join the battle as well, forming the Thunder Megazord and White Tigerzord. Pachinko Head gets knocked down during the ensuing battle, and before he can get up, he finds himself on the receiving end of the Thunder Saber slash and in other words, his demise.

The Rangers are able to combine their powers to form a shield which sends the flames emitted by Flame Head right back at him. After growing, Flame Head permanently removes his mask. He is soon defeated with the Thunder Saber.

Although Flame Head was referred to as a "he", he sounded like a female.

A cannon monster created by Lord Zedd from a miniature cannon model that belonged to Billy. Cannontop has the ability to shoot his victims to an intergalactic dimension of no return. Aside from the main cannon mounted on his head, Cannontop also has mini-rocket launching pads installed into his chest. After getting struck by the Power Blaster (and apparently unharmed by it), Cannontop is made huge by Lord Zedd. The White Ranger first battles Cannontop with the Red Dragon Thunderzord riding on top of the Tigerzord. Then, he calls on assistance from Tor, whom blasts numerous gunner-type rays. Afterwards, the Tigerzord goes into warrior mode and forms the MegaTigerzord. Cannontop's bombarding was brought to an end by the MegaTigerzord's Firebird attack.

Cannontop is the second boss in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie for the SNES game console.

Weldo

* First Appearance: "The Great Bookala Escape" (11/23/94)

A robot/welder monster created by Lord Zedd who tries to foil the Rangers' plan of sending Bookala back to his planet. After firing a shot at Bookala, he is blown up by Billy's Bladeblaster. Only appears briefly.

Evil Bookala

* First Appearance: "The Great Bookala Escape" (11/23/94)

An evil clone created out of a miniature sized decoy doll of the alien creature, Bookala, by Lord Zedd. The Rangers knew right away that he was a fake, and Zedd quickly decided to make him grow. Both Bookala and its evil doppelganger resembled Japanese kabuki dancers. This Bookala had a long and deadly black tongue that lashed out and wrapped around the Thunder Megazord, but the Rangers untied themselves from this situation by slicing the tongue with the Thunder Saber. The Evil Bookala was destroyed by the Thunder Saber.

Jaws of Destruction

* First Appearance: "Forever Friends" (11/28/94)

A monster made by Lord Zedd from a large saw in the school wood shop room. Zordon said that the Jaws of Destruction was one of Zedd's most dangerous monsters sent to finish the rangers off once and for all, although he does not demonstrate that ferocity in battle. He has huge saws as weapons which he is skilled at using. Once the Thunder Megazord chops his hands off, he is left nearly defenseless, unable to use his saw weapons, resulting in a quick demise by the Thunder Saber.

The Jaws of Destruction appears as the third boss in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie video game for the GameGear.

Tube Monster

* First Appearance: "A Reel Fish Story" (11/29/94)

A "life-saving innertube" monster created by Lord Zedd from Bulk and Skull's innertube that resembles a blue-and-white-painted Pipebrain. Tube Monster begins causing havoc in the city when a battle is being fought between the Rangers and Goo Fish, Pirantishead, Slippery Shark, and Commander Crayfish. The rest of the Rangers go into battle against the giant Tube Monster, while White Ranger remains behind to battle the other aquatic monsters. Tube Monster doesn't pose much of a challenge against the Thunder Megazord, quickly being defeated by the Thunder Saber. After the Tube Monster's defeat, the tube is returned to the beach, where it had originally been.

Photomare

* First Appearance: "Rangers Back in Time, Part 1" (2/4/95)

Lord Zedd created Photomare from a Polaroid camera. Photomare was able to trap the Rangers (who had been transformed into kids), inside a photograph. Photomare and Goldar had cornered Bulk and Skull (who had also been transformed into kids), to retrieve the photograph of the six kids. Alpha 5 was able to temporarily freeze Goldar and Photomare in their tracks. When the Rangers returned to their correct ages, Photomare grew giant, at which point they summoned the Red Dragon Thunderzord. Photomare quickly created a copy of the zord, called Copyzord. After the Thunderzords combined to form the Thunder Megazord, they were able to easily destroy both the Photomare and Copyzord both in one quick swipe of the Thunder Saber.

Wizard of Deception

* First Appearance: "Return of the Green Ranger, Part 1" (2/20/95)

The Wizard of Deception was sent by the Ghost of Darkness to destroy the White Ranger. According to Zordon, the Wizard of Deception was his old rival and could make any kind of illusion into reality. He first takes control of Bulk and Skull and forces them to get a strand of Tommy's hair so he could clone him. Bulk and Skull are unsuccessful, so the Wizard of Deception takes matters into his own hands. He has a bunch of putties capture Tommy and cut a strand of his hair. After getting the hair, the Wizard uses the hair to create a duplicate Tommy, to once again be the evil Green Ranger. The evil clone calls for the Rangers to meet him, and when they arrive the Wizard of Deception sends the Rangers back in time, to Angel Grove in the colonial 1700's. After battling the White Ranger, the evil Green Ranger is sent by the Wizard to the Command Center to send Zordon a message. After returning, the Wizard has the clone attack the city with the Dragonzord while he too goes into the past. Upon arrival in the past, the Wizard turns three rats into monsters in order to occupy the other Rangers.

Back in the present, The Wizard of Deception faces the fallen Tommy alongside the evil Green Ranger after the Dragonzord easily defeats the Tigerzord, telling him to surrender. Tommy manages to kick the magic wand from the Wizard's hand and use it to go back in time, where he is able to retrieve the other Rangers and safely bring them back to the present. The other rangers morph and take on the Dragonzord while Tommy blasts the Wizard of Deception with his own wand, reducing him to a pile of black clothing garb and freeing the clone Green Ranger from the Wizard's evil spell.

NOTE: The Wizard of Deception is a US-exclusive monster.

Rat Monsters

* First Appearance: "Return of the Green Ranger, Part 2" (2/20/95)

The Wizard of Deception transformed three rats into monsters while in Angel Grove's colonial past. The Green Ranger clone and the White Ranger return to the past era and face the rat monsters alongside each other. After getting defeated, they were turned back into regular rats by the White Ranger with the Wizard's wand.

NOTE: The Rat Monsters in this episode were originally intended to be used in the feature movie which was being filmed at the same time. However, Haim Saban himself thought they were too low budget for a movie and used them here instead. Also, they are US-exclusive monsters.

now Monster

* First Appearance: "Storybook Rangers, Part 1" (5/1/95)

A yeti-esque monster from the "Grumble the Magic Elf" book that doesn't like trespassers on his mountain valley. He attacked the Rangers and Grumble by charging them, throwing rocks at them, and burying them in an avalanche. He was buried in his own avalanche according to Grumble.

Turkey Jerk

* First Appearance: "Storybook Rangers, Part 2" (5/2/95)

A robotic turkey monster accidentally created by Bulk and Skull and brought to life by Lord Zedd. Bulk and Skull wanted to occupy the Rangers with a monster, in order to unmask them. Turkey Jerk regarded Bulk and Skull as his parents and wished to fight the Rangers in order to fulfill their goal. Turkey Jerk possessed a ray gun he used in combat against Billy, Adam, and Aisha. The Turkey Jerk monster was soon destroyed by the Power Cannon. The Rangers teleport away before Bulk and Skull get a chance to unmask them.

NOTE: Some of Turkey Jerk's turkey parts originally belonged to Chunky Chicken (now unplucked). Despite similar appearances, no parts of the Pudgy Pig costume were used to create the Turkey Jerk costume.

Mondo the Magician

* First Appearance: "Storybook Rangers, Part 2" (5/1/95)

Mondo the Magician was a fictional character in a book titled "Grumble the Magic Elf". Mondo had put a spell on Grumble the Elf, turning him into a grouch. Rita Repulsa was an old friend of Mondo. When Kimberly, Rocky, and Tommy were trapped in the book & turned to Mondo for help, he turned them away. After the three Rangers were eventually able to escape, Rita was able to free Mondo from the book, allowing him to attack the city. He was returned to the book after being struck twice by the Thunder Megazord's Thunder Saber.

NOTE: Mondo is not to be confused with King Mondo of the Machine Empire.

Needlenose

* First Appearance: "Wild West Rangers, Part 1" (5/8/95)

Needlenose was a cactus monster created by Lord Zedd from a rare species of cactus (classified as "cactal vocifera spinoctera") that Tommy gave to Kimberly as a gift. Needlenose used paralyzing needles to weaken his opponents. Zedd wanted Goldar & Needlenose to act quickly, travelling back in time to 1880 through a time hole, where they encountered Kimberly (who had previously fallen through said timehole) and the ancestors of the modern-day Power Rangers. After being almost defeated, Needlenose and Goldar travelled back to the present. After being made huge by Zedd, Needlenose began throwing his sharp cactus-like projecticles at the MegaTigerzord, although they were soon bounced back by a shield barrier created by the zord. Needlenose is destroyed by the Mega Tigerzord's Firebird attack. When Needlenose was destroyed, the cactus he was created from was returned to normal.

Vase Face

* First Appearance: "Blue Ranger Gone Bad" (5/20/95)

A vase monster created by Lord Zedd from Tommy's art project. After being made huge by Zedd, Vase Face takes on the Thunder Megazord. He extends tendril-like tentacles made of a clay substance, wrapping it around the zord.
