Fannrem

Fannrem is village in Orkdal municipality, Norway. Located five kilometres south of the municipality centre Orkanger, signs of conurbation between the two places are taking place. Statistics Norway therefore regard Orkanger-Fannrem as one community, with 6,540 inhabitants [cite paper | author=Statistics Norway | title=Urban settlements. Orkanger-Fannrem would be the second largest settlement in Sør-Trøndelag, after Trondheim. Fannrem was the administrative centre of Orkdal municipality until 1 January 1963, when Orkanger was merged into the municipality, making Orkanger the centre of administration.

Fannrem is mainly composed of a centre with service industry and outlying residential areas and farms. One large industrial factory is located here, Orkel, which produces machinery for agricultural use. Also located here is the Norgesfôr Orkla, the main silo in Orkdal.

Famous people hailing from Fannrem are ski jumper Roar Ljøkelsøy, football coaches Nils Arne Eggen and Knut Torbjørn Eggen and parlamentarian Jorodd Asphjell.
