Televisión de Galicia ("Television of Galicia") (TVG), is the public television of Galicia. It is part of the Compañía de Radio-Televisión de Galicia (CRTVG), the Galician public broadcasting company, which embraces radio, television and internet broadcasts and services.

TVG went on air for the first time on 25 July 1985, with the short film "Mamasunción" by Chano Piñeiro. After a test period, which lasted until September 29, the station began broadcasting regularly with 39 weekly hours of programs. The station now broadcasts a full 168 hours per week, with almost 70 per cent of own productions. On 31 December 1996 its international channel started broadcasting in America through satellite, and on 17 May 1997 started offering its complete service via the Internet. Soon afterwards the international channel started to broadcast also in Europe. TVG is also offered in Portugal and Spain with a number of cable television providers. All broadcasts are open and "free to air" (restrictions may sometimes apply to sporting events).

Its headquarters are located in San Marcos, Santiago de Compostela. All TVG programming is in Galician language, except for some commercials, which are sometimes in Spanish.

TVG is subject to Galician law as it is a public channel. Thus, its mission is to promote Galician language and culture, while providing entertainment and quality productions. TVG's directive board is formed by television specialists appointed by the Galician Parliament (normally representing all the different political groups in it).
