Persha Liha after finishing 2nd in the Druha Liha Group C in 2001/02 season. After a 2nd place finish in the 2005-06Persha Liha , FC Kharkiv was promoted to the Vyscha Liha for the first time.The team finished 12th in the 2006-07 season, which was their first season in the Premier League.
