Original recording

With Phil Spector producing, The Ronettes' version reached # 24 in the American Billboard chart, and # 11 in the UK chart, in 1964. The follow-up to "Be My Baby", it featured Leon Russell on piano, and backing vocals from Darlene Love and Cher among others.

Later versions

Jimmy Mack & The Music Factory on Atlantic 45 45-2552 A-side circa 1968.a unique version that starts out slow & much more soulful which has an acid-type lead guitar break.

In 1969, Andy Kim recorded the song for Jeff Barry's label, Steed Records. Kim's version became a U.S. Top Ten hit, reaching # 9, and earned a gold record.

In 1973, Dave Edmunds released a version of the song which reached number 8 in the UK singles chart.

In 1980, Phil Spector produced The Ramones' version of the song which appeared on their album "End of the Century". This single reached #8 in the UK charts.
