Stefan Patryk Liv (born December 21, 1980, in Gdynia, Poland) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender of Polish descent, currently playing for HV71 in the Swedish elite league Elitserien.

Liv was born in Gdynia in Poland as Patryk Śliz, but was given to an orphanage in Gdańsk, and adopted by a Swedish family when he was about two years old. Stefan Liv kept his original forename as his middle name. Playing career

Liv was the starting goaltender in HV71 and is often chosen for the Swedish national team; on December 22, 2005, he was named as third goaltender to Team Sweden for the 2006 Winter Olympics. Liv played his first Elite League game in Sweden on January 18, 2000, in Jönköping for his team HV71 against Luleå HF. His first national appearance was in a match against Czech Republic, also in Jönköping, on November 9, 2000. Liv was drafted in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit Red Wings with their 3rd round, in the 102nd overall selection. Liv signed a one-year contract with the Red Wings in May, 2006 but started season 2006-07 playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. Two days later, Liv was assigned to Toledo Storm in ECHL when the Grand Rapids recalled goalie Logan Koopmans. After one season with the Detroit Red Wings' organization, playing mostly for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL, totalling a save percentage of 89.5 over 34 games, he signed a three year contract with his former Swedish club HV71.
