Haddiscoe railway station is a railway station in the English county of Norfolk. It is named after the village of Haddiscoe, some 2 miles distant, although the village of St. Olaves on the other side of the River Waveney is rather closer.ref|osexp1 The station is positioned as it is (at the end of 3/4 mile minor road off the main road) because until 1959 Haddiscoe provided an interchange with main-line services from London to Great Yarmouth South Town via Beccles. The main line services used a high level station at Haddiscoe.

History

The first Haddiscoe station was opened by the Norfolk Railway in 1847. The Great Eastern Railway closed this station in 1904, replacing it with the current station at the point where the lines to Yarmouth and Lowestoft crossed. The name of a station called Herringfleet Junction, on the high level line, was changed to Haddiscoe High Level. Both stations operated until the British Transport Commission withdrew services on the Yarmouth line, closing the high level station, in 1959. British Railways subsequently renamed the low level station Haddiscoe. A link between the two lines existed, controlled by Haddiscoe Junction signal box. The station is served by the Wherry Lines service between Norwich and Lowestoft, operated by National Express East Anglia.
