North Shore Medical Center

The North Shore Medical Center (abbreviated NSMC) is a hospital complex on the North Shore of Massachusetts. It encompasses several campuses, the main being the Salem facility at 81 Highland Avenue, Salem, Mass., 01970, which consists of NSMC Salem Hospital, and MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center.

NSMC is affiliated with the Boston-based Partners HealthCare system, founded in 1994 by Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.[1]

There are other NSMC-affiliated sites in surrounding towns, such as NSMC Union Hospital in Lynn, MA, the NSMC Cancer Center in Peabody, MA, the NSMC Women's Health Center in Danvers, MA, and the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers, MA.

North Shore Physicians Group is also a member of North Shore Medical Center. The physicians group is a network of North Shore area primary care and family practice physicians. North Shore Physicians Group currently has 17 offices in several communities across the North Shore.

NSMC Salem Hospital

NSMC Salem Hospital is a 248-bed community teaching hospital that provides adult and pediatric services. The NSMC Heart Center is a heart center on the North Shore with fully integrated cardiac services including angioplasty and advanced cardiac surgery. NSMC also offers a full range of surgical services, including many minimally invasive procedures. They have the North Shore's largest emergency services and are designated as a Primary Stroke Service hospital. NSMC's full pediatric services are located on the Salem campus as well.

MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center

MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center is the North Shore's pediatric hospital. After more than 105 years in business under the name of North Shore Children's Hospital, and after twelve years of clinical collaboration with MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC), they have changed their name to reflect the full integration with MGHfC

For the last twelve years both the inpatient unit and the pediatric emergency department have been staffed by jointly appointed NSMC and MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) physicians. Now, every single pediatrician working at NSMC is credentialed through Massachusetts General Hospital.^{[citation needed]}

MGHfC specialists provide care at outpatient practices of NSMC and at the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care . These specialties include gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology, orthopedics, nephrology, neurology and pediatric surgery. MGfC at NSMC also has pediatric hospitalists on staff inside the hospital.

Through its long-standing collaboration they have developed standard treatment protocols to ensure that the quality of care patients receive mirrors the care they would receive in Boston.^{[citation needed]}

NSMC Union Hospital

NSMC Union Hospital is a 147-bed, acute care community hospital providing health care to the residents of Lynn and surrounding communities. The clinical staff provides adult medical and surgical services including emergency care, convenient day surgeries and other procedures.

Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care

The Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers, MA is a collaboration between NSMC and Massachusetts General Hospital and offers more sophisticated services than any other outpatient facility in the region.^{[citation needed]} Services include outpatient and minimally invasive surgery, cardiac diagnostics, and advanced imaging services. The Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center, a comprehensive cancer care center, is also located in the Center's lower level.
