Gy is a digraph of the Latin alphabet, used in Hungarian.

Linguistics & Pronunciation

"Gy" is the thirteenth letter of the Hungarian alphabet, preceding "h" and following "g". It represents a voiced palatal plosive IPA|/ɟ/. In Hungarian, the letter's name is "dyay."

Usage

This is the only way it is used in Hungarian. In Hungarian, even if two characters are put together to make a different sound, they are considered one letter, and acronyms keep the letter intact.
