National Army

National Army

The term national army has many meanings around the world, and is used typically, but not necessarily, to mean the lawful army of the state as distinct from rebel armies or private armies that may operate there.

National Army may also refer to:

  • The National Revolutionary Army, was the national army of the Republic of China in 1925–1947.
  • In the United States of America, the National Army (USA) is the 1917 army.
  • The Irish National Army (1921–1924) was the military force of the Irish Free State during the Irish Civil War.
  • In Suriname, the national army is the Army of 1980, when the Surinamese armed forces changed name. In 1980, following a military coup, Suriname went under military rule.
  • In the Azerbaijan Republic the national army is one of the branches of the Armed forces. Others include the Internal Forces, the Border Army, etc.
  • In the Spanish Civil War the Nationalist rebel forces were called the "Ejército Nacional" or National Army.
  • In the EA computer game Battlefield Heroes one of the playable factions is called the National Army.
