:"Ghayn is also a spelling for the Arabic letter ghain."The Cyrillic letter Ghayn, Ge stroke or Ayn (in Kazakh) (Ғ,ғ) is a Г with a horizontal stroke. It is used in Kazakh, Uzbek, and Tajik where it represents a voiced uvular fricative IPA|/ʁ/. Despite having a similar shape, it is not related to the F of the Latin alphabet. In Kazakh and Tofa, this letter may also represent the voiced velar fricative IPA|/ɣ/.

It corresponds to the Arabic letter ġayn/ghain used in earlier, Arabic-based orthographies for these languages.

Transliteration

In Kazakh and Tajik, it is transliterated as ğ or gh, and in Uzbek it is transliterated as `g. In Azerbaijani, it is transliterated as ğ.
