AmericanConnection is a brand name used by two regional airlines and their holding companies to feed American Airlines's flights at the airline's Miami and St. Louis hubs:

*Chautauqua Airlines, serving 13 cities with 15 Embraer ERJ 140 jets
*Trans States Airlines, serving 21 cities with 15 Embraer ERJ 145 jets

AmericanConnection is the name given to flights operated by independent carriers. The AmericanConnection carriers previously operated under a marketing agreement with Trans World Airlines as "Trans World Express".

Together, the two carriers operate over 300 flights a day to 27 destinations. The AmericanConnection services are operated as an affiliate to the Oneworld airline alliance.

In March 2007, AMR announced that RegionsAir would no longer operate as an AmericanConnection carrier. It was announced that Great Lakes Airlines, under its own name, would resume service to seven of the nine cities that RegionsAir had previously served. The remaining two cities (Jackson, TN, and Owensboro, KY) no longer receive air service to St. Louis. Disasters

*Corporate Airlines Flight 5966 crashed on 19 October 2004 near Kirksville, Missouri killing 13 people, with two survivors.

Incidents

* An Embraer ERJ 145 en route Washington's Reagan National-St. Louis (Flight AA5526) was forced to make an emergency landing at the Pittsburgh International on June 12, 2006 after one of its hydraulic systems failed. The aircraft's alternate hydraulic system failed after landing and the jet was towed to the gate.

* On April 22, 2008, a Chautauqua Airlines flight from St. Louis to Milwaukee Experinced engine failure and landed safely at MidAmerica St. Louis Airport. Of the 32 passengers on board, none were injured.

Destinations

AmericanConnection operates non-stop service to and from St. Louis, Missouri's Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport to destinations in the United States. Beginning in June 2008, AmericanConnection (Trans States) will also begin flying from American Airlines' hub at Miami International Airport.
