Bob Monette

Bob Monette

Robert "Bob" Monette is an Ottawa City Councillor from Orléans Ward in the city's east end. He was elected on January 9, 2006 in a by-election to replace outgoing councilor Herb Kreling. Monette won the election with 34% of the vote defeating seven other candidates.

Previously, Monette was a township councillor in Cumberland Township from 1985 to 1991. In 1991, Monette ran for mayor of Cumberland but lost to incumbent Brian Coburn. In 1994, Monette ran for a seat on the regional council of the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton but lost to Kreling in a race that was so close, it had to go to a re-count. Monette ended up losing by 23 votes. Prior to being elected, Monette served as the constituency office manager to MPP Phil McNeely of the Ontario Liberal Party.

He and his wife, Pat and his three children live in Queenswood Heights.
