Anwar Saifullah Khan

Anwar Saifullah Khan is a prominent politician of Pakistan and is currently a Member of the Provincial Assembly of NWFP. He hails from District Lakki Marwat and has remained a Federal Minister under the Premiership of Benazir Bhutto. He is the most illustrious son-in-law of former President of Pakistan Ghulam Ishaq Khan. His younger brother Salim Saifullah Khan is currently affiliated with the PML (Q) party as a Senator and who also remained a federal minister under the premiership of Muhammad Khan Junejo and Shaukat Aziz. Anwar himself is a former civil servant and belonged to the District Management Group.

When the current Military Establishment in Pakistan decided to create a docile PML (Q) in the form of like-minded group, Anwar Khan's younger brother Salim Saifullah Khan joined it as its Frontier President and apparently secured Anwar's release on bail who was earlier arrested by National Accountability Bureau on account of several politically motivated charges such as jobs allotment to the poor people of Pakistan. He was however, acquitted by the Accountability Court on 17th May, 2003.

Anwar Saifullah Khan is a co-chairman of Saif Group of Companies. After getting his Masters in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University, UK, he further supplemented his credentials by taking a Masters degree in Public Administration from University of Southern California, U.S.A.

Anwar Saifullah Khan joined the Civil Services of Pakistan in 1970. He held a number of command and administrative posts. He was the Consul General of Pakistan in Montreal, Canada 1980/84. He resigned from the Civil Services in 1984 to join the family business. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly (Parliament), 1988-1990. From 1990 to 1997 he was a Senator. He was Minister for Environment and Urban Affairs (1991-93). From 1994-96, Anwar Saifullah Khan was the Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources.
