Tom Hamilton (broadcaster)

Tom Hamilton, a native of Waterloo, Wisconsin, is the chief radio announcer for the Cleveland Indians Major League Baseball team and a Big Ten college basketball commentator on ESPN.

Tom joined the Indians broadcast team in 1990, after spending three years in the booth for the then AAA club of the New York Yankees, the Columbus Clippers. He served with Indians legend Herb Score until 1997, when Score retired after 30 seasons. Hamilton became chief announcer in the 1998 season, and has held the position until present. In early 2007, he signed a five-year contract extension with the Indians, and will remain the team's voice through at least the 2011 season.

He is well known to Indians fans for his enthusiastic home run calls, "A swing and a drive!" or "Swung on and belted, to deep left field, a-WAYYYY back and gone!" Also part of Hamilton's signature is his emphatic "Ball Game!", which follows the final out in an Indians win.

Hamilton calls basketball games for the Big Ten Network. He refuses to say three pointer only "triple." Hamilton is a four-time Ohio Sportscaster of the Year award recipient (1997, 2000-01, 2004).He resides in Avon Lake, Ohio, with his wife and four children.
