History

The club was established in August 1898 and won the Suffolk Junior Cup in 1900, beating Southwold RA Volunteers 4-0.[1] After playing at a variety of grounds, following World War II the club moved to its current ground on Recreation Way, which they initially shared with the cricket club. In 1945 they joined the Bury and District League, where they played until 1969, when they switched to the Cambridgeshire League.

In 1975 the club reached the Premier Division. In 1988 they joined the newly formed Division One of the Eastern Counties League. The step up required the club to upgrade the ground's facilities - such as adding a covered stand, perimeter rails, hard standing, a new clubhouse, and floodlights - in order to satisy the league's requirements. The last of these upgrades was completed in time for the beginning of the 1994-95 season.

In 1992-93 the club's reserves, still playing in the Cambridgeshire League, won the Cambridgeshire Junior Cup. The following season the reserves won Creake Shield, and then went onto complete a league and cup double the season after that by again winning the Junior Cup and Division 1b. In 1996 the club's first team won the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup in 1996. Three years later they finished second in the league, and were promoted to the Premier Division. In 2006-07 the club finished runners-up to Lowestoft Town, their highest-ever league finish.
