Manjeshwar(Malayalam: മഞ്ചേശ്വരം) (also known as Manjeshwara, Manjeshwar or Bangra Manjeshwara) is the northern tip of Kerala, bordering Karnataka. It is a small coastal village in Kasaragod district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is 21 km from Mangalore ( Kudla in Tulu ) town. Srimad Anantheshwara Temple is situated in Manjeshwar. Manjeshwar is also called 'Pancha Bhasha bhumi' means land of five languages namely Malayalam, Kannada,Tulu, Urdu and Konkani. In 2007, the Government set up a Tulu academy.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[1], Manjeshwar had a population of 8674. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Manjeshwar has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 70%. In Manjeshwar, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Climate

The monsoon rains during the months of June to September. The spring season occurs during the month of November to January. The summer or dry season falls between the month of February to May.
