Colorado Children's Chorale

Colorado Children's Chorale

The Colorado Children’s Chorale is a singing group in Colorado that was founded in 1974. The Chorale consists of six choirs: Prep choir, Apprentice choir, Concert choir, Regional Tour choir, National Tour choir, and Transitions choir. They participate in over 130 annual performances.

The chorale enrolls more than 400 mixed, unchanged children’s voices in grades two through eight from all social, economic and ethnic backgrounds, representing over 180 schools across the Front Range of Colorado. An additional 1,600 children, who are mostly at-risk and from under-served communities throughout the state, participate annually in a nationally recognized education outreach program, called the Conservatory.

Participants are encouraged to develop self-discipline, self-motivation, teamwork, poise, focus and confidence. Some alumni, fondly called "grads", work for the Chorale for a few years, helping with rehearsals and behind-the-scenes at concerts.

The Colorado Children’s Chorale is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

Performances

The Chorale uses many professional theatre directors and choreographers. They performed at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Over the years, the chorale has visited many places in Colorado and across the USA, as well as many countries such as China, Spain, France, Great Britain, Brazil, and South Korea.

Vail Residency

The tour choir of the Chorale travels to Vail, Colorado yearly before each season starts. This trip usually lasts one week at the end of which is a free public concert at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheatre. During this week the tour choir learns all their new music for the performances they will be doing all season.
