Archontics

Archontics

The Archontics, or Archontici, were a sect of heretics, who arose towards the close of the 2nd century. They were thus called from the Greek word Polytonic|ἀρχοντες, "principalities", or "hierarchies of angels", by reason that they held the world to have been created by the angels. The Archontics were a branch of Gnosticism.
