John Manners-Sutton, 3rd Viscount Canterbury

John Henry Thomas Manners-Sutton, 3rd Viscount Canterbury, GCMG, KB (1814–1877), was an English nobleman and politician.

The son of Charles Manners-Sutton, 1st Viscount Canterbury, he was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating with a MA in 1835. He served as Member of Parliament for Cambridge from 1841-7 and for Newark from 1847 to 1852. He was Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department from 1841-6 in Robert Peel's administration. He later served as Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick from 1854-61, Governor of Trinidad from 1864-6, and Governor of Victoria from 1866-73.

He was appointed a KCB in 1866 and a GCMG in 1873.

He succeeded to the title Viscount Canterbury in 1869.
